Abstract

Due to Covid-19, 195 nations and 1.5 billion students in grades pre-primary through higher education were affected by the closures of schools. In 2020, Malaysia has been hit with the third wave, causing all higher education institutions are closed, and need to proceed with online learning mode. Therefore, the purpose of this study is to investigate the Physical and Health Education (PHE) students’ perceptions towards the effectiveness of online distance learning (ODL). In this study, a quantitative method was used by distributing a survey to the 189 students of PHE course in UiTM Puncak Alam, Selangor, using a stratified random sampling method. The results show that students feel convenient with the accessible online learning contents, but not with the learning environment for them to be motivated to finish the assignments. The study also shows that there is no significant difference between the male and female students’ readiness, and there is a strong significant relationship between the students’ readiness and satisfaction that suggested students’ readiness influences their satisfaction. This study concerns the effectiveness of ODL from the view of PHE students because soon, they will be the future educators who need all the practice and knowledge.
