Abstract

Despite the emergence of sentiment analysis in tourism and hospitality research, however, less research has been proposed to study deeply into the topic, and little research has focused on the related topic in offering an overview of its shape, collaboration, and potential research topics. Therefore, in this paper, we fill these gaps in sentiment analysis in tourism and hospitality literature by applying a bibliometric approach. We present a comprehensive analysis of 350 published works on sentiment analysis in tourism and hospitality research around the world. We collected the literature between 2012 to 2022 in many venues indexed by the Scopus database and other relevant publications related to tourism and hospitality. We use both Publish or Perish and VoS viewer as our vehicles to collect related sources and visualize the collected data, respectively. The findings indicate the domains of tourism and hospitality, journals and publishers, and topics that can be taken into consideration in sentiment analysis in tourism and hospitality future research. Furthermore, it also serves both academics and graduate students as a guide for future recommendations to be explored. Finally, we claim that our present work is one of the first articles to provide a greater understanding of sentiment analysis in tourism and hospitality research’s by examining its shape in an academic context through bibliometric analysis.
